Driving License in Makkah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Note: This is only applicable to Expats

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Valid Iqama
2. Driver's License (Country where you came from)
• You should translate it on Arabic (Make sure you go to an Authorized Translator because they will reject it if without a stamp from a Authorized Translator)
3. Six pieces (6) Passport Size Picture (Recent Photos)
4. Your Medical Exam Results
5. A letter from your Company/Employer as a proof that you're working or they allow you to get a Driver;s License.

STEPS:

1. You should visit their office in morning to get a Medical Form.

Note: You should bring with you a Photocopy of your Visa which is printed in your Passport because you need the "Visa Sajl Number" during Medical Exam.

2. Go to any authorized Clinic or Hospital for your Medical. (The list of the Clinic or Hospital you can go is posted in their office, if none ask them to provide you a list.)
3. After completing the Medical and completed the needed requirements you go back to Driving License Office. The staff will check your documents, they will get your original Iqama and original Driver's License (Country where you came from) and compare it to the documents you gave.
• Note: You go early in the morning on or before 07:00am(Morning) because there are lot's of people applying for Driver's License. So you can finish it early.
4. After verification of the documents you will go to the next counter which is a Police, he will again review your documents and he will get your Letter from your Employer/Company.
5. You will then instructed to go inside for a Test Drive. (First Test Drive)
6. You will be sitting in a bench where you will wait for your turn. 
• Note: You have the freedom to choose either Manual Transmission or Automatic Transmission. 
• Tip 1: For the beginners During Test Drive, I suggest you sit for a while and take time to observe those doing the test drive so you will be having an idea what to do.
• Tip 2: When you enter the driver's sit, take time to adjust your sit, your mirror, your side mirrors, put on your seat belt and tell to your instructor to put also his seat belt. Wait for your instructor to say Go. (Don't go rush, take it easy, don't be pressured to your instructor because some of them will pressure you. Just follow his instructions)
7. After you passed the First Test Drive, your instructor will sign your paper and put a grade. You will be then instructed to go to their cashier to pay for the Lecture in afternoon. (I forgot the exact amount... maybe 100sr - 150sr)
• Be back on or before 04:00pm (Afternoon) for the lecture and bring the receipt with you. (Bellow is a sample of Recept).

• But if you Failed the First Test Drive, you will be sent to cashier to pay for schooling fee and you will be attending their Driving school.
1. After the lecture you will be then instructed to come back tomorrow morning for your Final Test Drive and Computer Exam.
• You will be sent outside before going home for a demonstration what to do on Final Test Drive.
• Computer Exam is 20 items and you should have atleast 15 correct answers out of 20. It means you only have maximum of 5 wrong answer out of 20 questions in order to pass the Computer Exam.
2. Second Day or Final Day:
• You will be getting your document/file to one of their staff.
• After you get your document/file you will be then sitting and wait for your turn for Final Test Drive. (Again be observant, observe how they do it. Be careful on the sign boards and pedestrian line. Stop your car when you see a Pedestrian Line and wait for the instructor to say Go. Stop your car before turning to left/right and wait for the instructor to say Go.
• If you Passed the Final Test Drive, you will be then sent to Computer Exam.
• If you Failed the Final Test Drive, you will be sent to cashier to pay for schooling fee and you will be attending their Driving school. You will be enrolling for their Driving school in order for you to reapply again. If you will not go for schooling you will not allowed to apply again for a period of time. (I don't know how long.. maybe after 3 months or longer)
3. Computer Exam will be a touch screen computer. It will be easy for your if you read and familiarized the copy they gave you.
• If you Passed the computer Test, you will be then sent to Cashier again to pay for the License. The payment will depend either 5 years or 10 years. 5 years = 220sr if I'm not mistaken.. For 10 years maybe 400sr - 450sr.
• If you Failed you will be instructed to come back again for a second chance to pass the Computer Exam.
4. After you paid, they will tell you what day you can get your Driver's License Card.
